OneFootball Raises $300M in Series D Round And Partners with Animoca Brands

In a series D funding round by blockchain fund Liberty City Ventures, football focused media platform raised $300 million to fuel the company’s growth in the Web 3 sector.

The company said on Thursday that the new capital will be used to support its expansion and the newly created OneFootball Labs, a joint venture with Liberty City Ventures and Hong Kong-based gaming platform Animoca Brands.

OneFootball Labs targets global football clubs, leagues, federations and players to create new digital experiences for its fans on the blockchain.

With the deal in place, Yat Siu, Chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, will be joining both the boards of OneFootball and OneFootball Labs

Other investors in this funding round included Dapper Labs, German investment company DAH Beteiligungs, Quiet Capital, RIT Capital Partners, and Animoca Brands.

Mik Naayem, co-founder and chief business officer of Dapper Labs, said:

“The potential of introducing more than 100 million users to relevant NFTs for the first time has the potential to be truly ground-breaking. We see this as a catalyst for mass scale Web 3 adoption for the whole industry.”
